The shining cobblestone
We have designed and developed this cobblestone, which can simply be placed among other cobblestones in places where guiding light is wanted, e.g. in cities or parks. There is no need for wiring, which makes the process much cheaper than for the type of in-ground-illumination one usually encounters. The solar cells cover the entire surface and thereby make maximum use of the available sunlight. We have decided to integrate the LED lighting in a very special way, so that the cobblestones become a beautiful shining surface at night.
The projected started in September 2006. Production started at out-sider in August 2008. The first prototype was produced in October 2008.
The shining cobblestone is developed as part of the PSO-financed project 339-13: Solar cell-powered LED lighting in the urban space - the development of the energy-saving light source of the future.
In addition, further work has been done on the cobblestone in the PSO project 340-003: Market test - solar cell-powered LED lighting in the urban space.
